Brownie Girl Scout Troop 222 Junior Girl Scout Troop 2676 Newsletter for February 19, 2007 |

On Friday, March 30th we will be holding a Noah’s Ark Stuff-N-Fluff Workshop (similar to Build-A-Bear) at the Community Center from 4:00 - 5:00/5:30 for the Daisy and Brownie troops. The total cost of this workshop is $20 per scout. We decided not to spend Fall Fundraiser money on the trip to the Museum of Science because of less than 50% participation. Because of this, the troop will be able to pay $14.00 per girl towards this activity. The Brownie families are only responsible for $6 per scout. Money and sign-ups are due by March 5th. Siblings are also invited to join in on the fun. The cost for siblings is $12 per bear, $12 per outfit and $3 per T-Shirt. You do not have to pay for siblings in advance. However, we do need to have a count of how many siblings will be attending so the Consultant will bring enough bears. Please include the number of siblings attending on the sign-up form. Only send in the $6 per scout in advance. |

Because our oldest girls will be Cadettes next year, we have been working on our plans for how to handle a new (3rd) troop. All girls who earned their Bronze Award in 05-06 will be moving up to the Cadette level. This is because we will be working on the Bronze Award again in 07-08 and these girls can’t earn it a second time. Girls in 4th & 5th grade or who do not have their Bronze Award will make up our Junior troop. Leaders will remain the same. Anya, Sue and I will lead both of these troops. We would love to have a Cadette parent helper for next year if you are available so we can have 2 adults working with each troop at all times. To summarize, if all girls return next year, our Cadette troop will be: Jessica, Nyla, Sarah, Keesha, Edith and Diana Our Junior troop will be: Cassidy, Julia, Brianna, Hailey, Kasey, Samantha and Dana. The Juniors and Cadettes will take over the Monday time slot, so girls in these 2 troops will have no changes to meeting day or time. As of right now we do not know what our Cadette troop number will be. I’ll pass on more information on what the new Cadettes will need for next year (vest books, etc.) at a later date. |

With the addition of a Cadette troop to our line-up, we will be moving the Brownie troop meetings to Tuesdays at the Community Center from 4:30 - 5:30. Katie Gonya has agreed to return as a Brownie leader with me for next year. We are hoping that by making these plans a full 6 months before the changes happen, it will allow you to plan ahead for other extra-curricular activities so the girls can stay with the troop. A few of the girls told us that they have Dance lessons at Kerry’s on Tuesdays. After checking Kerry’s Dance Center’s schedule on her web site, I am happy to see that she offers the exact same classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We would hate to lose any of the girls due to scheduling issues. I hope this change will not be too difficult for anyone. If you are unable to make this new meeting day, but your daughter would like to remain in Girl Scouts, please let me know so I can try to find space in another Brownie troop. |
