Leader Meeting Minutes from November 3, 2005

Troops in attendance: Daisy 2956, Brownie 222, 696, 2805, Junior 2245, 2597, 2676, Senior 1035

Investiture will be held on Thursday, November 10th at 7:00. This is the night before Veteran's Day. Please have the girls there by 6:30 to line up. Please go over the Investiture program with your girls to be sure they know what they're doing. If you find out that a girl who has a part in the Jr/Cadette program will not be able to attend, please let Nancy know so we can rearrange names if needed. Bring a canned good to Investiture - Cadettes are doing a collection.

Veteran's Day parade - Nov 11th - Parade starts at 11:00, please be there by 10:30 to line up. Brownie and Daisy families supply baked goods for the gathering after the parade. Drop them off at the Fire Station by 10:30.

Survey Forms - We've only gotten back about 25 out of over 100 forms that we sent out. Most were positive. Cindy and Nancy will read them over and report back with the general items we got from it. Remind your girls to send them in if they haven't yet. A few mentioned that troops should do more community service projects.

Holly from Council attended our meeting. We voted for Delegates for the Annual meeting. Sandy and Cindy are our delegates and Nancy is the alternate.

Holly also taught us how to make 2 of the crafts for the "It's A Girl Thing" event. We will have many Junior and Cadette volunteers to help us that day. We may need to meet once ahead of time to prepare the crafts for the girls (cutting ribbons, counting out beads, etc.) Junior and Cadette leaders will need to coordinate this. BROWNIE LEADERS - Please talk about this event with your girls - tell them how much fun it will be and ask them to BRING A FRIEND. Non-members are welcome at this event. Council is getting us extra insurance so non-members will be covered.

We discussed the Camporee. We have only 10 new Juniors this year who do not have Junior Aide (probably not all will attend Camporee) so we will need to find a try-it that all the Brownies can work on. There are not enough Juniors to do 2 different Try-its. GirlSports has never been done at Camporee. Jodie and Nancy do not have it. Sandy has to check to see if some older girls have it. If this one doesn't work out, we'll need to discuss which other one will work.

Nancy still needs year-end paperwork and bank forms from 1 troop. Please mail them in ASAP.

We discussed the Gym-Ken sleep-over. Nancy's troops are planning to go in February. Other Leaders asked if they could join. Nancy will contact Gym-Ken to see if they have a maximum number of girls they'll allow.

Holly showed us the outline for the "Tip Top Troop" award. This is a great way to know that you are following GS Program Guidelines. Even if you don't plan on doing all steps of the award, it is a good way to check yourself. Cindy has the copy if you want to see it.

Tina is doing a Raffle for the Newnan family. This is NOT a Girl Scout activity - no money is going to or coming from the girl scout troop. She has had someone donate to her 2 tickets to the "Kiss 108 Jingle Ball". They are great seats worth $125 EACH. The seats are 15th row from the stage on the floor! She will be selling 100 tickets at $20 each. See Tina if you're interested in purchasing a ticket.

The Chester Fire Department is holding a benefit breakfast for Matthew Newnan on Saturday, November 19th from 6:30 am to 11:00 am. All proceeds will benefit the Newnan family. It is the same day as Novemberfest but you may still have time to attend. We don't have to be in Salem until 8:30 am.

Cookie Delivery day has been changed to March 10th or 11th. This is a problem because it is Home Show weekend. Jodie is going to beg for Friday delivery so we can still sell at the Home Show. We may need to pick up our cookies in another town. We would need several vehicles to do this. Let Jodie know if you're available to help.

Time/Date for the Home Show Cookie Sale:
March 10, 1PM to 8PM
March 11, 10AM to 8PM
March 12, 10AM to 4PM
We decided we would ask Junior and Cadette troops if they could help out with the sale this year. It is difficult to have Brownies stay at the sale until 8PM. Time assignments for troops will be done at a later Leader meeting.
