Survey

We discussed the results of our online survey to parents.  Most replies gave favorable feedback to our troops.  Some general feedback that we received is that parents would like to see more service projects done.  Some troops are waiting too long to give out badges.  You don’t have to wait until the court of awards to give out the badges.  Girls like instant gratification.  Some parents didn’t feel that their troop earned enough badges.  Some parents wanted a little more advanced notice of trips and activities.  Some asked that all Chester girl scouts are invited to town-wide events even if the leaders aren’t able to attend.

Older Girl Committee

I would like to form an older girl committee made up of Cadettes and Senior Girls.  This committee, made up of 7 girls, would have input into our ceremonies, help us plan events and plan their own “older girl” events.  I spoke with the girls at the Camporee about this and they seemed very interested in having this opportunity to have more of a voice on town events.  They would get feedback from their troop-mates to help us make these decisions.

New Year Kick-Off

Council is holding the annual new-year kick-off in Tilton on Saturday, August 18th.  Everyone is invited to participate in workshops and trainings.

Campfire Recruiting Night

Campfire/Recruiting on August 24th at Wason Pond.  Leaders please bring s’more fixings for your troop and a little extra to share.  Please let your troop know about the event and tell them to bring any friends that might want to join.  Bring chairs or sit-upons. Any leader with space in their troop should be there to meet parents.  I need to know how many girls each troop can take.

Service Project at Wason Pond

The Rec. Coordinator is organizing a small service project for Chester Scouts on Saturday, August 25th from 8 am to noon at Wason Pond.  Scouts will use appropriate tools for their age and/or with supervision to remove street signs, site number signs and other remnants of the old camp ground.  Please send this to your troops and let me know who would like to participate.

We also decided to purchase a few prizes for the Midway.
We have some donated prizes also.

Recruiting Night

Friday, September 14th.  A leader from each troop who has openings should plan on attending to meet parents.

Fall Product Sale

Sale runs Sept 14th to October 21st.

Fall Girl’s Event

October 21st has been approved by the Rec. Department for use of the MPR

We decided to go with the theme “Fall Fun” (decorate pumpkins, make fall leaves crafts, etc.)

We discussed options for the older girls leaders.  We will not have a “training” day like we did last year.  The girls rotating to each station didn’t work well.  We discussed the option of possibly having the older girl leaders lead 2 tables and alternate between them so they can be more familiar with what they’re doing.

Date for Investiture?

First choice November 2nd, Second choice November 9th.  I’ll check with the Rec. Department and let everyone know.

Our next Meeting is September 6th
