Reminders

  • Please file a Trip Alert for EVERY trip you take outside your meeting place.  Many troops are not filing these forms.
  • Please use only the “Pink Permission Slips” for your activities.  Do not make your own forms
  • We need more leaders to take Basic Outdoor Living.  We have only 4 trained leaders now that Cindy and Kathe are gone.  We don’t want to have to say only troops with trained leaders can go to the camporee.  Council is asking for copies of training cards before approving camping applications now.  There is a BOLS class scheduled for 9/14 and 9/22-23 in Portsmouth.  Don’t forget, you can’t take your troop on hikes or camping even in your own backyard without BOLS.
  • If Cindy’s name is on your checking account, we need to change it to Nancy.

News

GS of Swift Water Council is merging with GS Council of Vermont.  For now, the only changes will be that training taken in Vermont is good in NH and vice versa.  Starting in April 2008, we will begin the merger.  All changes will be complete by April 2011.  At this point, we don’t know what will happen with existing troop numbers.  GSUSA is taking it’s 317 councils and merging them into 109 new councils.  Both Maine and Massachusetts are “early adopters” of the change, so Swift Water will be monitoring their mergers closely to help make our merger easier.

OUR NEXT MEETING IS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER
