Leader Performance Review

For Service Team Members, Performance Review for your position

Council Mini-Training (March)

Giving Service

Council Mini-Training (April)

Goal Setting

Bridging

Girls who are in 3rd grade this year should be preparing to bridge to Juniors

Girls who are in 5th or 6th grade this year should be preparing to bridge to Cadettes

Girls who are in 8th or 9th grade this year should be preparing to bridge to Seniors

Remember that the “Bridge to ________” badge is earned insignia.  Unlike the Brownie wings whose only requirement is being a Brownie, the rainbow patches for each level must be earned.

Girls who are currently Daisy Girl Scouts should not bridge to Brownies until the end of their 1st grade year.

Finance Policies

See updated council finance policies hand-out.

Next Year

Need to know:

Service Team members who do not plan to retain their position for next year.

Leaders who would like to take EOL II training in Chester.  (all levels).

Early Re-Registration

Re-registration forms should be available by the middle to end of April.   I would highly encourage all troops to participate in Early Re-registration this year.  It gives you a clear picture of space available for next fall.  It also saves you the stress of getting registered to participate in the Fall Product Sale.  Girls and Leaders who are bridging need to register with their NEW troop.  You can still add additional registrations in the fall. 5 girls and 1 adult must register in the spring (exceptions made for OG troops if necessary)

Remember, starting in September 2008, the levels will be as follows:

Girl Scout Daisy – K & 1                     Girl Scout Cadette – 6, 7 & 8

Girl Scout Brownie – 2 & 3 Girl Scout Senior – 9 & 10

Girl Scout Junior – 4 & 5                     Girl Scout Ambassador 11 & 12

All girls should be registering with their correct level.  We will have some flexibility for the first year if you have a reason not to move girls to the correct level.  Please let me know if you will not be following the above guidelines.

“Your Own Business” IP Workshop

I am currently planning a workshop for the OG Interest Project called “Your Own Business”, which is a required step of the Silver Award.  It is being held on Saturday May 10th from 10 to 1 at the MPR.

Both current Cadettes/Seniors and Juniors who are bridging to Cadettes this spring are invited.

There will be a per girl cost for supplies and lunch – to be determined.

Girls will be required to bring in an item of “business attire” that we can donate.  Skirts, slacks, blouses, etc. that a woman could wear to a job interview.  This will satisfy the service project step of this badge.  Girls will also be asked to dress in business casual attire.  Does not have to be “dressy” but nice clothes should be worn.  No shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, etc.  (Dress like they’re attending a business meeting)

I will need a head count by April 15th.

Last Month’s Troop Field Trips

2597 – Hannaford for Tour on nutrition                           301 – Colonial Theater, Boston for GS Night at the Flat Stanley show

2805 – Boston Children’s Museum                                   2597 – Leader’s home for cooking badge

AUBURN

Goal Setting

Court of Awards and Bridging

June 13th at Auburn Village School.  Debbie Comeau will request sound system from Holly at council.

Camporee

Meals will be handled the same as last year.

No non-girl scout siblings may attend, boy or girl.

Each unit at Anne Jackson can accommodate 10 to 12 Daisies or Brownies, or 5 to 10 Juniors, Cadettes or Seniors. Each unit must have 2 adults or no adults.  You may not have one adult in sleeping quarters alone with girls.

Every camp site should  have at least 1 leader trained in BOLS.   Auburn has only 4 BOLS trained leaders:  Kim Brunelle, Anne Gagnon, Deb Comeau and Dona Davis.  Send copies of training cards with final payment to council to verify BOLS training.  (if training cards are missing, Nancy can pull training records from Council to accompany payment)  More Auburn leaders should be looking into taking this training before next year.

Training

We went over the training chart.   Items highlighted in yellow are where required trainings are missing.  Please fill in if dates are known.  All adults working with girls are required to take Orientation.  Leader names highlighted in yellow have missing registrations.
