We will need a head count as soon as possible so we will know if we have enough to get the lower price.  Please email your head count to Nancy by March 28th.

Camporee

By April leader meeting, please have firm number attending (girls and adults)

We decided to continue having our 4th grade girls lead the younger girls in a Try-it and we will be letting the Cadettes and Seniors plan what kinds of activities they’d like to do with the  5th and 6th grade Juniors  Maybe some kind of camp skill.  We will still offer an afternoon swim.  Please let me know if your troop will not be participating in one of these activities.

A Nashua Junior troop will also be camping at Chenoa at the same time and would like to participate in some activities with us.  They are 15 girls, 4 4th graders and 11 5th graders.  Their town does not do a camporee.

Sandy is going to find a few samples of custom patches for our next meeting.  Please let us know if your troop would like to purchase custom patches.  They normally cost about $1.50 each.  We must order a minimum of 50 and the price goes down if we order 100 or more.

Dance

Friday night, April 4th. We will need volunteers to be chaperones and to run the bake sale table.

We will also need donations of baked goods.  Jodie will bring her 10 gallon drink dispensers for water and lemonade.  We will purchase cups instead of selling water bottles.

“Your Own Business” IP Workshop

I am currently planning a workshop for the Cadette Interest Project called “Your Own Business”, which is a required step of the Silver Award.  It is being held on Saturday May 10th from 10 to 1 at the MPR.

Both current Cadettes and Juniors who are bridging to Cadettes this spring are invited.

There will be a per girl cost for supplies and lunch – to be determined.

Girls will be required to bring in an item of “business attire” that we can donate.  Skirts, slacks, blouses, etc. that a woman could wear to a job interview.  This will satisfy the service project step of this badge.  Girls will also be asked to dress in business casual attire.  Does not have to be “dressy” but nice clothes should be worn.  No shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, etc.  (Dress like they’re attending a business meeting)

I will need a firm head count no later than May 1st.

Next Year

Need to know:

Adults who do not plan to return next year

Adults who are bridging to a new level for next year.  If you’re bridging, do you want to schedule a training in

Chester?  If so, please let me know so we can choose a date and put it on the training calendar.

Council just announced that bridging leaders do not have to wait until new program is ready to take training.  I would still recommend it so you don’t need to be trained twice.  I’d be happy to schedule training for you in Chester that will fit your schedule.  I plan to do several trainings as needed over the summer.

Early Re-Registration

Early Re-Registration starts in April.  I would highly encourage all troops to participate.  It gives you a clear picture of space available for next fall.  It also saves you the stress of getting registered to participate in the Fall Product Sale.  Girls who are bridging need to register with the NEW troop.  You can still add additional registrations in the fall.  If the leader is bridging to a new level with the troop, you can still participate.  You would register with your new troop number.

Remember, starting in September, the levels will be as follows:

Girl Scout Daisy – K & 1                     Girl Scout Cadette – 6, 7 & 8

Girl Scout Brownie – 2 & 3                  Girl Scout Senior – 9 & 10

Girl Scout Junior – 4 & 5                      Girl Scout Ambassador 11 & 12

All girls should be registering with their correct level starting in September.  We will have some flexibility for the first year, but my goal is to have as many girls register with their correct level as possible.

They have announced that as a 6th grade Cadette, girls can finish up the Bronze award and as a 9th grade Senior girls can finish up the Silver Award.  They do not need to remain in the younger level to complete these awards.

Date for Court of Awards and Bridging Ceremony

We narrowed down the date to June 9th, 10th or 16th.  Please let me know if you have a preference on one of these dates.   The last day of school as of today is June 19th. I’ll check with the Rec Department to see if any of these dates are not available.
