HOME SHOW:
The town booth sale is this weekend at the Home Show.  Sandy is running it again this year so see her with any questions.  Please be sure not to go to any member of the Home Builders with a complaint unless the building is on FIRE!

We will be selling on Saturday from 10 am – 8 pm and Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm.  All adults need to check in at the desk to receive a wrist band.  You will need this wrist band to gain access to the halls.  Sandy has information and maps if you need one.

Please have a Thank You card from your troop ready for our next meeting.  ALL TROOPS need to send a card, this sale pays for our camporee for everyone.

Nancy P. and Sandy have extra cookies that they are willing to transfer to the town to supplement the town’s supply.  When we planned on how many cookies we needed, we didn’t know we’d be selling on Saturday.  If you start to run low on cookies, please contact Sandy.

E-COUNCIL:
Council has a new computer program called E-Council.  They have had to input all the leader and girl’s info again.  They sent Nancy a print-out of all the names and asked us to look it over for errors.  If you haven’t checked the sheet yet, please see Nancy so we can be sure all the girls are registered with the correct troop.

GIRL’S EVENT:
We decided last month that we’d like to have our Girl’s event on Sunday, September 24th at the MPR.  This date has been approved by the Rec. Department.

CLOSING:
Our Court of Awards and Bridging ceremony is scheduled for June 14th at 7:00.  Please let parents know so they can mark their calendars.

COUNCIL BRIDGING EVENT:
Region 5 is offering a Bridging Event at Camp Kettleford on April 22nd from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Girls will have the opportunity to work towards the majority of their bridging requirement, as well as learning about the wonderful opportunities that are waiting for the girls next year in Girl Scouting.

In addition to offering the Bridging Event, we are also offering EOL 2 for those leaders that are attending the event. We will be offering EOL 2 Brownie, Junior, and Older Girl. As of March 6, we have not been able to find a Trainer for Older Girl, but are still in the process of finding one. We will contact Leaders that are interested in participating in the Older Girl Training, to let them know if we have found a trainer. Training is offered first to leaders that are attending the event. If there is more space available we will open it to other leaders.

EARLY REGISTRATION:
Council is once again doing early registration.  If our town would like to participate, we need to let them know by March 20th

The theme for this year is: Trot Into 2007!

Early re-registration is a great way to get organized for the fall so that you can enjoy your summer without worrying about paperwork or troop organization for the entire Service Unit. When the new membership year starts, the troops in your Service Unit will be ready to hit the ground running. When your Service Unit signs up to participate in early re-registration, your Service Unit registrar will receive pre-printed girl and adult registrations forms for every currently registered girl and adult in your Service Unit. The forms will be available in early April. Service Units not utilizing early re-registration will have to wait till the middle of August for their forms. These forms are then distributed to the troop leaders to give to the girls and adults. They simply need to check over the pre-printed information, sign the registration form, and return it to the leader. The leaders will then return all of the registration forms with their troop dues summaries to the Service Unit Registrar. All of the returning girls and adults will then be registered for the new membership year and can get started right away with all of the Girl Scout fun in the fall.

Early re-registration is also a great tool for organizing troops for the fall. This is the time to start looking at which girls will be bridging and which adults will be moving up with them. It is also important to start looking at which troops will needs leaders for the fall as now is the time to start recruiting them so that training can take place over the spring and summer. This is also the time to start looking at which troops will have openings for the fall and making plans for recruitment. Your council representative is always available to support your efforts. Please make them your partners in strengthening and expanding the Girl Scout movement in the local community.

Now for the fun part! All troops that have confirmed leadership (at least one adult leader must be committed to leading the troop in the fall) and a minimum of 5 girls are eligible to participate in early re-registration. Every troop that participates in early re-registration will receive the early re-registration patch and be invited to attend a special free event in the fall as our thank you for making a commitment to Girl Scouting for the new membership year. This year's special free event will feature a western/cowgirl theme!

CAMPOREE:
By our next leader meeting on April 6th, please have an estimated number of adults and girls who will be attending and know your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of camp sites.  The choices are Yolacan (sleeps 28-40), Treehouses (sleeps 30), Tall Timbers (sleeps 28-35), Windigo (sleeps 28-32), Lakeside (sleeps 24-32) and The Nut (sleeps 20).  We will try to give you one of your top 3 site choices.  We will also need to know what troop you’d like to share a camp site with.  Most troops will need to share with another troop.

WASON POND:
The Conservation Commission has asked if the Girl Scouts would like to participate in a large community service project this spring.  They have purchased approximately 1000 baby trees to be planted at Wason Pond to re-forest areas that were cut for the campground.  Chuck Myette will be giving us the dates and details as it gets closer.

CHESTER FAIR MIDWAY:
Cindy brought in some ideas of new games and prizwes we can purchase for the Chester Fair Midway. They are on sale at Oriental Trading. Nancy took the catalog and will take care of placing the order.

We are looking for someone who will be willing to organize the Midway for the Chester Fair 2006. If you're interested, please speak to Cindy or Nancy.

TERM LIMITS:
Girl Scouts is phasing in term limits for Service Unit Team positions.  Once your position’s term limit is phased in, you start counting your time at that point.  Time served in that position before the limits are implemented is not counted.

The term limits went into affect beginning 2004 -2005 Membership year for Age Level Consultants, Outdoor Program Coordinators, Registrars and Secretaries.  Anyone holding this position now can stay in their position until 2007-2008.

The next group affected by this is Fall Product Sale Managers, Family Partnership Coordinators, Juliette Coordinators and Service Unit Managers. For those in these positions now, the term started with this 2005 - 2006 Membership year through the 2008 - 2009 Membership year.

The next group includes Finance Managers, Cookie Delivery managers, Public Relations Consultants, Special Event Coordinators and Troop Organizers. The term limits don't start until the 2006 - 2007 Membership year for this group. So anyone in now can stay in their position until the end of the 2009 - 2010 Membership year.

If you currently hold a Service Unit position and DO NOT plan to return to this position next year, please let us know as soon as possible so we can fill the position.

Our next Leader meeting is April 6th.
